Animal Artists Family Festival

Held in conjunction with the "Animals in Art" exhibition on view in the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts Kerstein Gallery the museum will present the Animal Artists Family Festival on Sunday, July 26 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. This event will feature Maryland's Dog Whisperer, Susie Homire, in the lecture, "Becoming the Leader of Your Pack".

Homire, one of several Whisperers from around the country, received her training from Mark German's American Dog Whisperer Academy. She is a veterinarian and life-long dog lover. Homire works with abandoned, abused and neglected dogs as the Director of Tara's Babies Dog Rescue, conducts symposiums and dog walks, and does private consultations to show dog owners what they need to do to have a stable relationship with their dogs. Homire says it's her mission in live to save as many dogs as possible from being sent to a shelter or put to sleep for behavioral problems. She maintains that through leadership, walks, rules and good nutrition you can forever change you relationship with your dog for the better. Participants will have an opportunity to meet Susie Homire prior to her 3:00 p.m. lecture. She will also have copies of Mark German's book, "There's Hope - The Four Essentials to a Stable Dog."

Caricaturist Kent Roberts will also be on hand to draw visitors or a fun animal caricature - please bring a photo of your pet.
